American Hero is a never—released shocking and unforgettable interactive film in which you play as the star of a crazy action movie from the 90s. Find someone to babysit — you can´t just break away from this adrenaline fountain of intrigue, spies, tricks and shootouts.
Play as handsome Jack and a retired intelligence officer who is sent straight from a strip club to fight the virologist Kruger. The villain scientist wants to infect the unfortunate residents of Los Angeles with a virus and subjugate their minds. The enemies will try to stop Jack, and only his muscles, mind and charm can save him. Take risks, improvise — and then you will be able to find and protect the only scientist who has an antidote to Kruger´s biological weapons.
American Hero is an updated version (remaster) of an interactive movie for the Atari Jaguar CD, which 25 years ago was supposed to shake the foundations of the genre, but eventually turned out to be inaccessible to the general public. It starred professional actors such as Timothy Bottoms (The Last Picture Show, Johnny Got His Gun), Daniel Roebuck (The Fugitive, Final Destination) and Musetta Vander (O Brother, Where Art Thou, Wild Wild West). And for the remaster, Timothy Bottoms recorded a voiceover for Jack´s thoughts that come to his mind throughout the game.
We made a remaster from scratch, using new game logic, but retaining the ambitions of the original. In this version, the original video footage is supplemented with a new voiceover from Timothy Bottoms — this is American Hero at its best and most complete
