Released by numerous requests, The Secret of Monkey Island™: Special Edition is an artful reinterpretation of the internationally successful classic game (released in 1990) that will appeal to both fans of the original and a new audience. The development team at LucasArts has redesigned the game to modern standards, choosing a completely new style direction for the hand-drawn material, rewriting the musical accompaniment, fully voicing the characters´ replicas and, finally, introducing a hint system to help players solve hilarious puzzles. Purists will not stay away either, who are offered the opportunity to seamlessly switch between the updated hand-drawn graphics and the original classic version.
The famously twisted plot of the game will send our naive hero on a funny stomach-cramping quest for the legendary secret of Monkey Island. Inspired by tales of pirate wealth, he arrives at the port of Mêlée with great hope, empty pockets and unquenchable curiosity. If he is smart enough, he will earn the trust of the pirates of the island of Mêlée and betray himself to the winds of fate, which will bring him to the great and terrible Monkey Island — an adventure that even the most bloodthirsty pirates fear to the bone.
