The Sudden Strike 4: Africa – Desert War expansion, based on the events of World War II in the Libyan Desert, takes you to the most famous battles in North Africa. Try on the role of one of the five new generals, such as Erwin Rommel and Sir Richard O´Connor. You can order Axis forces to invade Libya, Tunisia and Egypt to surprise American forces and defeat them in the battle of the Kasserine Pass, or take command of the Allies and replay the second Battle of El Alamein, which turned the tide of the campaign in the Libyan desert. Test your tactical abilities by fighting in the harsh desert amidst sandstorms. Sudden Strike 4: Africa – Desert War offers two small campaigns with six new missions based on events in North Africa during World War II. In the Axis campaign, you have to start with the Italians advancing into Egypt to capture the city of Sidi Barrani, lay siege to Tobruk and gain control of the local harbor, as well as break through the Kasserine Pass in Tunisia. In the Allied campaign, you will take part in Operation Compass and regain control of the village of Sidi Barrani, recreate the turning point of the campaign in the Libyan desert - the second Battle of El Alamein — and break through the German defenses in the battle of the Mareth Line. There are five new doctrine commanders in the game: on the Axis side, you can choose the award—winning Erwin Rommel or one of the three Italian commanders - for example, the famous Field Marshal Giovanni Messe. On the side of the Allies, you can play as the legendary General Sir Richard O´Connor. In Sudden Strike 4: Africa – Desert War, you will find more than 30 new types of transport, including a medical truck, a Marder II tank destroyer, a British Bishop self-propelled gun, as well as an Italian Semovente da 105/25 self-propelled gun.
