Description:
SlavicPunk: Oldtimer is an isometric shooter based on the works of the famous Polish writer Michal Golkovsky in the genres of science fiction and fantasy. It was Michal Golkovsky who created the story of Janus, a private detective with a turbulent past; he tries to solve a case of stolen data and fights internal demons, urban gangs and an all—powerful corporation responsible for the decline of the city he once called his own. The game offers a reliable combat and movement system, as well as a modular weapon upgrade system, thanks to which players, traveling through the dark corners of the city, can ensure that each battle will look different. Action-packed levels with elements of stealth, hacking, and puzzle solving alternate with quieter moments of exploring the city, side quests, and storytelling. A unique, deeply Slavic approach to the world of cyberpunk will not leave anyone indifferent thanks to a sarcastic sense of humor and a slightly pessimistic view of the neon-gray shades of the surrounding reality, which at the same time brings a breath of fresh air to the genre. As a team, we wanted to find out what the modern world will look like in a few decades. Will a hypothetical Central European city and its inhabitants be different from Los Angeles from Blade Runner or Neo-Tokyo from Akira? The attempt to answer this question had a huge impact on the artistic choice of the game, including a combination of futuristic and outdated technologies, the brutal architecture typical of post-communist countries, the ambiguous moral choice of the protagonist, as well as the improvisational nature and atmosphere of an environment crowded with people forced to deal with an uneven distribution of benefits, rely on their wits and luck, to live to the next paycheck without losing your mind. The plot of SlavicPunk shows that this vision of the future as a dystopia goes deeper than it seems at first glance — only players can find out what lies behind the neon glow and piles of concrete, solving the case and helping Janus understand how cruel the truth can be. © 2023 Red Square Games S.A.
