It was a war that witnessed the return and fall of Santa Anna, marches thousands of miles long as the United States sought to control California, and a peace treaty that brought America to the brink of civil war. As Mexico, will you be able to protect your huge country from American invasions? As the United States, will you follow the Conquistadors´ route all the way to the halls of Montezuma? 1863 - EAGLE AND EMPIRE While the United States was divided by Civil War, French Emperor Napoleon III saw an opportunity to strengthen his influence in America by launching an invasion of Mexico. In this alternative history campaign, President Lincoln´s tacit support for Mexican Republicans leads to France´s recognition of the Confederacy and declaration of war on the United States. With fighting raging from Gettysburg to Mexico City, will the Union be able to regain the initiative, or will French intervention be the key to the Confederacy´s victory in this expanded conflict? 1866 PARAGUAY UNDER SIEGE A year after Francisco Solano Lopez´s unsuccessful invasion of Brazil and Argentina, the armies of the Triple Alliance pushed the remnants of the Paraguayan army across the Paraná River. Between them and Asuncion are the fortifications of Humaita, the strongest citadel in South America. By signing the Treaty of the Triple Alliance, the Governments of Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay pledged to continue the struggle until the Government of Paraguay is overthrown.
