Functions
Eras - Begin your reign in colonial times, survive the World Wars and the Great Depression, become a dictator during the Cold War, and propel your country into modernity and beyond. From the 19th to the 21st centuries, each era brings its own challenges and opportunities.
Dynasty. Each member of the extended El Presidente family is present on the island and can be appointed ruler, manager, ambassador or general. Invest in members of your dynasty to unlock new character traits and turn them into your most valuable assets.
Research and reconstruction. Develop your nation by unlocking new buildings, technologies and resources. Renovate your old buildings and transform them into more efficient modern buildings.
Developed trading system and merchant fleet. Assemble a global merchant fleet and use your ships to protect trade routes to neighboring islands or world superpowers for both export and import.
Explore your island. Find out what lies behind the fog of war. Find deposits of valuable resources and explore the ruins of ancient civilizations.
Completely new design. All art has been redesigned from the ground up to give Tropico 5 a unique visual identity. Choose from over 100 buildings from every era.
Cooperative and competitive multiplayer mode. Up to 4 players can build their own cities and economies on any island map. Players can share resources, supplies and population, or declare war on each other.
