3. To prepare standard solutions of titanium (IV) and vanadium (V), a sample of steel not containing vanadium and titanium was dissolved in nitric acid. Equal aliquots of the resulting solution were placed in six volumetric flasks with a capacity of 50.00 ml, adding 0.50; 1.00;1.50 ml of a solution containing 0.20 mg/ml titanium or vanadium, hydrogen peroxide, and brought to the mark. The optical densities of titanium peroxide complexes at 400 nm and vanadium at 400 and 619 nm were measured relative to a reference solution containing all components except H2O2. We received the following data to construct a calibration graph:
V, ml 0.50 1.00 1.50 0.50 1.00 1.50
A400 0.165 0.340 0.510 0.2900 0.575 0.860
A619 0.060 0.120 0.185 0 0 0
From a sample of steel weighing mg after appropriate treatment, 100.0 ml of solution was prepared. An aliquot of 10.00 ml was taken into a 50.00 ml flask, H2O2/HNO3 solutions were added and made up to the mark. The optical density was measured at 400 and 619 nm relative to an aliquot of the test mixture that did not contain H2O2.
Calculate the mass fraction (%) of vanadium and titanium in steel for the following options:
Option 1
M, g 0.2500
A400 0.940
A619 0.105
