The stage that determines the rate of the reaction is the monomolecular cleavage of the C_C bond in the trichloroacetate ion. The reaction proceeds in the first order, and the rate constants have the following values: k=3.11*10-4 s-1 at 90 C k=7.62*10-5 s-1 at 80 C. Calculate: a) activation energy, b ) rate constant at 60 C.
