1965 and the US ground military operation in Vietnam is in full swing. As the commander of the US Army, you will have to conduct military operations against the rebels to protect the Ia Drang Valley, on the border with Cambodia.
To win over the locals, you will have to find and destroy the Viet Cong (fighters of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam), who are infiltrating from the Ho Chi Minh Trail and muddying the waters in the province by intimidating locals, planting mines and ambushing your subordinates.
The rebels also have an older brother, the Vietnam People´s Army (VPA). This regular, well-trained army has much greater ambitions than the Viet Cong (NLF), they seek complete control over the valley, which would be a means to an end - the unification of North and South Vietnam under communist rule.
The VPA conducts its operations from abroad, their goal is to directly support the rebels, and when the right moment comes - to carry out attacks.
To successfully fight the rebels, you need to coordinate the actions of infantry, special forces, artillery, combat equipment, train soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Vietnam (AFRV), but in addition to this, you will have to win the support of the local population. The higher the support of the local population, the better your intelligence will work, which is a key factor in the fight against the Viet Cong.
Wars are not won in complete isolation, so as a commander of the US Army you will face the challenges of supporting the war at home, because if you lose the hearts and minds of the American people, the war will surely be lost.
This game captures the essence of the Vietnam War, where airborne forces came to the fore, strongholds were key, and air strikes could decide the outcome of a battle.
Rise to new ranks and watch your uniform change from Second Lieutenant to General as you relive the Vietnam War.
