ABOUT THE GAME:
It was July 7, 2011.
While investigating reports of arms trafficking, peacekeeping forces encountered an unclassified carnivorous species inhabiting a small village in North Africa.
These frenzied creatures are easy to provoke and are resistant to normal attack. Eight specimens were discovered in the region now called "Earth: ALPHA"...
Only four specimens have been successfully contained for study. The victims of the attack were quarantined at a research facility nearby. These victims showed signs of internal liquefaction and accelerated necrosis, similar to those of other flesh-eating viruses that are common in the region.
But it wasn´t a viral outbreak. It was a parasitic infestation. A previously unidentified species of hookworm has been discovered under the skin of the Earth: ALPHA specimens.
These parasites, which we call alpha worms, lay dozens of eggs inside their hosts, which in turn produce many larvae. These larvae entered the bloodstream and caused various genetic disruptions. However, unlike most genetic failures, these symptoms were not fatal. Instead, infected victims were larger, stronger... and driven by hunger.
Using the research obtained from the Earth: ALPHA samples, a team of several special people was assembled. Minor outbreaks occurred over the next few years, but were quickly suppressed by an elite squad. Which brings us to the current situation in Tokyo...
