LEWIS AND CLARK COUNTY, MONTANA, USA
Ten years ago, young Nicole and her mother leave the family hotel after it becomes known about the relationship of Leonard, Nicole´s father, with a girl named Rachel, her pregnancy and suicide.
And now, after the death of her parents, Nicole returns to her native land to fulfill her mother´s last wish: to sell the hotel and talk to Rachel´s relatives. She comes with a family lawyer to assess the condition of the old house.
The weather suddenly turns bad, and Nicole is forced to ride out the storm in a huge hotel in the mountains. Her only assistant is Irving, a young employee of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, with whom the girl keeps in touch by an old radiotelephone.
Nicole and Irving begin to investigate the incident, which turns out to be much more confusing than the locals think. This is a story of love and death, in which nostalgia and melancholy are closely intertwined with chilling ghost stories.
