Introduction
In recent years, negative trends in the dynamics of children´s health have been observed in Russia. A number of factors contribute to the deterioration of children´s health. Among them, the most serious are the unfavorable economic, ecological situation, as well as such factors as the stress of the daily life of schoolchildren, an increase in the number of sociopathic families, and drug aggression. Large loads in school lead to chronic stress, the consequences of which are an increase in the neurotization of children, lack of sleep, physical inactivity and hypokinesia.

1. The problem of correction of mental and physical deficiencies of mentally retarded schoolchildren by means of physical education
1.1. Specific features of the motor analyzer of mentally retarded schoolchildren
To solve many problems of physical education in school VIII type, you need to know what is the nature of the formation of the motor analyzer and mentally retarded children. These issues of defectology as a theoretical basis of the system of education and training of children with intellectual disabilities cannot yet give a complete answer. At the same time, in some aspects of the physical education of children enrolled in school VIII of the form, experimental material and practical experience of teachers of schools of the VIII type are gathered. Modern ideas about the rational construction of the system of physical education convince us that it is on the development of the motor analyzer that the control of one’s own movements, the control of one’s body, depends. If we understand how movements are performed by mentally retarded children of different ages, then we can judge the degree of development of the motor analyzer.

1.2. Means to increase the motor activity of mentally retarded students
Physical education, in relation to the system of special correctional schools, we understand as an educational and pedagogical process aimed at learning motor actions, managing the development of physical qualities and correcting motor disorders that students have at these schools (45).

1.3. Correctional developmental value of rhythm lessons in a school for children with intellectual disabilities
Classes of rhythm in school VIII type is given much attention, especially with primary school students. Naturally, in different years, according to the program "Physical Education" for pupils of auxiliary schools, various aspects of rhythmic classes were included, mainly for primary schoolchildren. And today, the rhythm has not lost its relevance, since it is for elementary children that a variety of exercises are needed, which develop coordination and accuracy of movements, orientation in space, and a sense of rhythm.
