===========================================
"Caesar in Gaul" is a standalone campaign for Total War: ROME II, dedicated to Julius Caesar´s war of conquest against the Gallic tribes. The campaign is based on Caesar´s work "Commentarii de bello Gallico" (Commentaries on the Gallic War). Players can choose between four factions to participate in the conflict: the Arverni (Gauls), the Suebi (Germans), the Nervii (Belgae), and Rome.
The Caesar in Gaul campaign covers a shorter time period (58 – 51 BC) and a smaller area than ROME II itself, but it does feature Gaul and the southern coast of Britain in greater detail.
Compared to ROME II´s Gaul map, the Caesar in Gaul campaign features more regions and provinces, more factions (playable and non-playable), and features a number of famous generals and historical statesmen that the player will recruit or fight against depending on the faction they choose.
The war brought Caesar enormous profits and glory, making him incredibly popular with the Roman people. And at the same time, turning the Senate against him, who oversaw his rise to military and political power, eventually allowing him to become Dictator.
Caesar in Gaul is different from the ROME II base game in many important ways:
• New campaign map
• Increased focus on characters
• 24 turns per year
• Compact multiplayer campaign
• New mid-game challenge system
• New historical battle
New units:
• Boii (ROME II)
• Galatians (ROME II)
• Gallic tribes (ROME II and Caesar in Gaul)
• Nervii (ROME II and Caesar in Gaul)
New playable factions for the full Total War: ROME II campaign:
• Nervii (Barbarians, Belgae)
• Boii (Barbarians, Gauls)
• Galatians (Barbarians, Anatolians)
